Open meeting with the CEO of Schneider Electric Ukraine

On March 15, 2024, the general director of Schneider Electric Ukraine, Mykhailo Bubnov, held an open meeting and talked with students of KPI on topics related not only to specialization and industry, but also to issues of concern to young people in general:
• How can a student start his professional career?
• Can a senior student work in our company?
• What salary can a beginner expect?
• What skills and what approach will help to achieve success?

According to Mykhailo, the main factor of a successful start is interest in work. If there is interest, then there will be development, professional and financial growth. Every year, 10 students from various educational institutions and specialties undergo internships at Schneider Electric Ukraine. Such cooperation is mutually beneficial, as the students get practical knowledge, and we get a fresh perspective and ideas.

Students of our department at both the bachelor's and master's level, including under the educational and scientific program "Energy management, power supply and engineering of electrotechnical complexes" took part in this meeting.

We would like to note the feedback from the participant "It is very nice that in such difficult times for our country, such companies as Schneider Eclectic help our students become qualified specialists in their field. At the meeting with the general director Mykhailo Bubnov, a lot was discussed: cooperation with students and the department, the realized future after our Victory, as well as technical issues related to green energy, which are more relevant than ever. "I hope that this is not the last, but the first meeting for a new step in Ukrainian energy. Sincerely, Polina Pugach", a student of the OH-11 group.

Participation of students of the department in the forum of energy managers.

As part of the Energy Efficiency Week 2023, on December 13, the Forum of Energy Managers was held, which was attended by the winners of the "Energy Management and Energy-Efficient Technologies" educational program.
Applicants had the opportunity to hear a discussion of the current state of implementation of energy management and energy monitoring at the level of communities and government organizations, as well as consider the experience of implementing energy management and energy monitoring on the example of three communities and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

The applicants managed to join a professional platform where energy managers exchanged information, experience and best practices in the field of energy management.
At the forum, there was an interesting survey "Energy management in communities: what hinders and what is missing?" and 45% of respondents noted that there is a lack of specialists. Therefore, we actively continue to train the professional community of future energy managers together with SE IEE - Department of Power Supply.

Students-energy managers of NN IEE visited the laboratory for testing building structures at SE NDIBK

On December 8, 2023, students of the 3rd and 4th years of the SE IEE studying under the SPP "Energy Management and Energy Efficient Technologies" visited the laboratory of the Department of Building Physics and Energy Efficiency of the State Enterprise "Research Institute of Building Structures", with which KPI has a cooperation agreement. SE NDIBK not only has modern equipment for researching the properties of building materials and structures, but also takes a leading role in Ukraine in creating national standards, implementing energy efficiency programs in the building stock, and applying energy efficient technologies in construction. In addition, SE NDIBK develops typical projects of thermal modernization of mass-produced buildings in Ukraine, as well as executed unique projects for the restoration of buildings damaged as a result of the military aggression of the Russian Federation.
The class on the topic "Investigation of thermophysical and acoustic properties of enclosing structures" for students of groups ОН-01 and ОНп11 was held as part of the study of the discipline "Energy efficiency and energy certification of buildings". Such classes have been held for energy management students on a regular basis for many years in a row. Acting Head of the Department of Building Physics and Energy Efficiency Andrii Mykhailovych Postolenko and junior researcher of the department Dmytro Vyacheslavovich Bida conducted the classes.
A. M. Postolenko introduced modern technologies in construction and research methods of building and thermal insulation materials. The specialist explained how for standard structural elements (a wall with a balcony block) studies of resistance to climatic influences and deformations are carried out, resistance to wind load is determined and other thermal characteristics are determined. He showed laboratory stands where such characteristics of materials as heat transfer resistance, frost resistance, steam, water, air permeability, etc. are determined. The students were particularly interested in a special chamber where efficient operation is predicted: the structure or material is exposed to radiation as an imitation of solar insolation, humidification as an imitation of rain, freezing to -30°C and heating to +60°C as an imitation of the external environment for 60 cycles.
D.V. Bida talked about special cameras for studying the acoustic properties of structures and assessing the influence of external and internal noise sources. The students got acquainted with the means of soundproofing, sound absorption, and also visited an anechoic chamber, where there is practically no sound reflection.
Such classes improve the interest of students, the perception of the material and the level of future specialists. Such scientific experiments can also be carried out within the framework of master's theses, which increases the level of research works of the university.

Ukrainian Energy Security Dialogue

Make the Ukraine’s energy system more resilient to external and internal security challenges. This is the task for which the DiXi Group think tank brings together Ukrainian, European and American stakeholders on one platform. In the heart of the country, where almost every citizen has experienced this challenge over the past year.

On December 12, the third Ukrainian Energy Security Dialogue will be held in Ukraine under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and with the financial support of the International Renaissance Foundation and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Ukraine).

The topic of the Ukrainian Energy Security Dialogue 2023 is Resilience and Recovery. Together with the participants, we will explore what approaches and tools will help strengthen the stability of Ukraine's energy system. And we will also create a vision of the common energy future of Ukraine and the entire European region.

✔️ What decisions and actions by the Ukrainian government, business, and international partners will help create a sustainable energy system?

✔️ What will help Ukraine's energy system to withstand physical and hacker attacks, reliably supply energy resources in the process of transition away from fossil fuels, and make local communities and cities energy independent and resilient?

The Ukrainian Energy Security Dialogue aims to find answers on how to do this.

EUROPE INSTALLED 19.1 GW OF NEW WPP LAST LAST YEAR

In 2022, Europe installed 19.1 GW of new wind energy capacity, of which 87% are land-based wind power plants. (16.7 GW on land and 2.5 GW at sea). In general, Europe already has 255 GW of wind energy capacity, of which 225 GW are onshore wind turbines, 30 GW are offshore wind turbines.

The countries of the European Union have 204 GW of wind energy capacity, of which 188 GW are on land and 16 GW are offshore. The largest capacity of new wind power plants was installed in Germany - 14% of all new installed capacity, in Sweden (13%), in Finland (13%), in France (11%). Almost half of the offshore installations were installed in Great Britain, and France installed its first large offshore wind farm in 2022.

In total, 489 TWh were produced by wind farms in Europe. The European association predicts that during 2023-2027, an additional 129 GW of new wind power capacity will be installed in Europe.

In 2022, Ukraine installed 83 MW of new wind power capacity. At the same time, 75% of the entire installed capacity of wind power plants in Ukraine (1.8 GW) is currently not working.

Ukraine received a powerful autotransformer from Lithuania

As part of cooperation and assistance in the reconstruction of the energy system, Ukraine received from the Republic of Lithuania a powerful power autotransformer, which will be installed at a high-voltage substation of the electricity transmission system. It transforms the voltage from the main line to the distribution level and can provide power to up to 200,000 households.

The transportation of this autotransformer to Ukraine was the largest logistical operation ever coordinated by the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
