The Department of Power Supply at the Educational and Research Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, combines specialist education with research in electrical engineering, energy efficiency and energy management.
The Department focuses on energy saving, energy management, power supply, and the design and control of modern electric power systems. Its programmes combine the efficient use of energy resources, renewable energy and information technologies.
Education
The department offers Bachelor’s and Master’s study programmes in speciality G3 Electrical Engineering, within field G Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction.
- Electric Power Supply Systems for Consumers — professional programmes at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.
- Energy Management and Energy-Efficient Technologies — professional programmes at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.
- Energy Management, Power Supply and Engineering of Electrical Complexes — a research-oriented Master’s programme.
Information on doctoral training is available separately. Programme descriptions, curricula and syllabi are accessible through the study programme catalogue. Earlier documents retain speciality code 141 and the programme titles used when they were approved.
Learning resources and information on the organisation of studies are collected in the Students section. The programme catalogue provides separate information on Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral programmes, curricula and syllabi.
Smart Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency
The Department combines teaching with research in modern energy engineering. Its subject areas include:
- design, operation and control of centralised and decentralised power supply systems;
- Smart Grids, microgrids, distributed generation and virtual power plants;
- energy management of industrial enterprises, buildings and municipal facilities;
- energy auditing, metering and consumption monitoring using information and computer technologies;
- renewable energy integration and energy-efficient technologies;
- Smart Home and Smart City concepts.
Further information is available under Research Areas and Research and Partnerships.
Practical Training and Industry Cooperation
Students gain experience with real facilities through internships, project assignments and research. This approach connects engineering knowledge with energy consumption analysis, technical solutions and the needs of enterprises and organisations.
The Department develops cooperation with energy industry specialists and research institutions. Dual education is a further pathway combining university studies with practical training in the workplace.
International Opportunities
Academic mobility, joint education projects and cooperation with European universities complement study at the Department. Students can explore exchange and double degree programmes, participation requirements and the experiences of previous participants.
Information is collected under Academic Mobility and Double Degrees and International Partnerships.
Career Prospects
The Department’s programmes prepare students for work in energy companies, industrial energy departments, municipal facilities, design and research organisations, and energy-related institutions.
Graduates can pursue careers in power supply systems engineering, energy management, energy auditing, engineering services and research. Examples of career paths, potential employers, vacancies and internships are provided under Graduate Employment.
