The Department of Power Supply’s teaching facilities include laboratories, classrooms and equipment for practical training in power supply, electrical measurements, relay protection, energy management and energy-efficient technologies.
Restoration and Modernisation in 2026
Following damage to teaching building No. 22, the Department is restoring laboratories and classrooms with the involvement of staff, students, graduates and partner companies. Its announcement of 20 August 2026 describes equipment upgrades, redesigned workstations and the introduction of teaching test benches. More about the summer laboratory upgrades.
In its announcement of 14 September 2026, the Department reported the installation of new windows and lighting upgrades, including energy-efficient LED systems with motion sensors and adjustable illumination levels. More about the restoration work.
Developing Teaching Facilities with Partners
Examples of practical training development include the opening of a renewable energy laboratory supported by DTEK Renewables in February 2025 and cooperation with NIK-ELECTRONIKA and Vaillant Group. Details of these projects and original sources are available under Cooperation with Employers.
Information on Premises and Equipment
The earlier description of laboratory facilities and room allocation is retained below. Its figures, equipment list and workstation assignments are provided for reference and do not represent a verified inventory following the 2026 restoration work. For arrangements for specific laboratory classes, please contact the course teacher or use the Department’s contact details.
The Department of Power Supply’s facilities comprise 16 laboratories and subject classrooms. These include the “Power Supply Systems», «Electrical Apparatus”, “Computer Technology and Programming”, “Relay Protection and Power System Automation”, “Alternative Energy Sources», «Electricity Consumers”, «Installation and Operation of Electrical Equipment”, “Fundamentals of Metrology and Electrical Measurements”, “Metering Electricity Consumption and Generation”, and others. Laboratory equipment is periodically upgraded: the Relay Protection and Power System Automation laboratory received an RPAT-124 test system and modern electronic relays; the Power Supply Systems laboratory received an overhead-line demonstration model, cable joint samples, a NIK STV-06 voltage stabiliser and a NIK ATS-20 automatic transfer switch; and the Computer Technology and Programming laboratory received 35 Philips 22-inch TFT monitors. Students also have access to Igor Sikorsky KPI facilities beyond the Department laboratories.
