Foreign partnership

International cooperation at the Department of Power Supply includes academic mobility, student practical training, exchange of teaching experience and research collaboration.

Cooperation with European universities: activities documented in 2026

Leibniz University Hannover — MERIT-Ukraine

Through the DAAD MERIT-Ukraine project, department lecturers participate in a seminar series on digital tools and modern teaching methods. Engaging Students with Technology took place on 23 April 2026, followed by Blended Learning: Storytelling in Flipped Classroom on 21 May.

Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg

From 6 to 31 July 2026, department students completed summer practical training in Magdeburg through the Joint Ukrainian-German Centre. The programme combined laboratory work, report preparation and presentation of results to host university lecturers.

Mobility and international opportunities

History of international cooperation

The Department of Power Supply has a long history of international cooperation. From 2013, this work expanded through educational and research projects. The following overview describes programmes, partner institutions and activities from earlier years.

The Eurasia programme

With support from the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU), the Department participated in the project “Ukrainian-Norwegian Cooperation in Higher Education for Sustainable Energy Development” (CPEA-2010/10050). The partnership was based on a bilateral agreement with the University of Telemark in Norway.

The internship brought together students from different countries, providing opportunities to learn about their cultures and traditions and to experience contemporary teaching approaches. Lecturers from universities in different countries contributed to the programme. Participants developed their subject knowledge and learned how to present research findings to an international audience.

Tempus IV — the CENEAST project

CENEAST focused on modernising curricula in urban development in Eastern Neighbourhood countries. The grant agreement was 530603-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-LT-TEMPUS-JPCR, 2012-3071/001-001.

The consortium included 10 partners from 5 countries: the University of Bologna, Italy; the University of Salford, United Kingdom; Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia; Belarusian State Technical University and Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Belarus; Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, St Petersburg State Polytechnic University, Kaliningrad State Technical University and Moscow State Industrial University, Russia; and the Network of Italian Researchers and Lecturers in Management, Italy.

The EU Seventh Framework Programme — PROMITHEAS-4

PROMITHEAS-4, “Knowledge Transfer in Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Mitigation” (ENV — Cooperation, No. 265182), was implemented under the EU Seventh Framework Programme. Including the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management of NTUU “KPI”, the consortium comprised 16 partners from 12 countries.

Partners included the Energy Policy and Development Centre — NKUA and the National Observatory of Athens, Greece; the Institute for Advanced Studies, Austria; TUBITAK — Marmara Research Center, Turkey; the Scientific Research Institute of Energy — Energy Strategy Centre, Armenia; the University of Belgrade — Faculty of Mining and Geology, Serbia; the Institute of Power Engineering Academy of Science, Moldova; Aristotle University of Thessaloniki — Laboratory of Heat Transfer and Environmental Engineering, Greece; the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Russia; the Institute for Studies and Power Engineering, Romania; the Polytechnical University of Tirana, Albania; Geotechnological Problems of Oil, Gas and Chemistry — Oil Academy, Azerbaijan; the Black Sea Regional Energy Centre, Bulgaria; SRC KAZHIMINVEST, Kazakhstan; and Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia.

The UKR IEE project

The project “Implementation of Energy Management System Standards in Ukrainian Industry” was implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with financial support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Its Ukrainian partners included the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management of NTUU “KPI”, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

The project aimed to promote sustainable and efficient industrial energy use by introducing energy management systems based on the ISO 50000 series of international standards and optimising energy-consuming systems.

The Department provided the project’s training component, including seminars on implementing energy management systems and optimising energy use. The programme provided for half-day introductory seminars, two-day user seminars and expert training lasting up to six months, combining lectures with practical work at industrial enterprises. It also provided for specialised courses on the ISO 50000 series for auditing, consulting and energy service companies, financial institutions, policymakers and government officials.

The Ukraine–Norway project

The project “Retraining and Social Adaptation of Military Personnel and Their Family Members in Ukraine” involved the University of Nordland in Bodø, Norway, and the International Foundation for Social Adaptation in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Department lecturers delivered lectures and practical classes within the “Resource-Saving Technologies” course: O. S. Yarmoliuk — “Fundamentals of Power Supply”; A. V. Cherniavskyi and Y. A. Veremiichuk — “Energy Saving in Lighting Systems”; O. O. Zakladnyi — “Energy Saving in Power Supply and Electricity Consumption Systems”; and V. V. Prokopenko — “Fundamentals of Energy Auditing”.
