For the third consecutive year, students of the Power Supply Department of the Educational and Research Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management (IEE) at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute have been awarded scholarships by Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences to participate in the two-week Summer School "The Business of German Engineering."
This year, the programme was attended by Yelyzaveta Pomyluiko, a Bachelor's student (Group GN-31), and Andrii Kozhukhar, a Master's student (Group GN-51mn).
The Summer School introduces participants to the distinctive features of German engineering education, cutting-edge technologies and innovations, and the close cooperation between universities and regional industrial enterprises. The programme combines academic lectures, practical sessions, and visits to leading companies. This year's participants visited SMA Solar Technology, Wilo Group, ELMOS Semiconductor, G.A.S. Dortmund, SCHMITZ medical GmbH, and WAGO Electronics, where they explored state-of-the-art solutions in energy, automation, microelectronics, and biomedical engineering.
An integral part of the Summer School is its rich cultural programme. Students visited the cities of Hamm, Lippstadt, Münster, Bonn, Bochum, and Dortmund, as well as the Computer Museum in Paderborn, gaining a deeper understanding of Germany's history, culture, and industrial heritage.
The participants emphasise that the Summer School provided not only new knowledge but also valuable international experience.
Yelyzaveta Pomyluiko shared: "The most valuable part of the programme for me was communicating with students from different countries. It helped me improve my English, exchange experiences, and make new friends. Participating in the Summer School became an important professional and personal experience that inspired me to continue developing in the field of energy."
Andrii Kozhukhar particularly highlighted the high quality of the academic programme, the diversity of the companies visited, and the inspiring international atmosphere. "What impressed me most was the combination of modern engineering knowledge, visits to leading companies, and communication with participants from 14 different parts of the world. This experience gave me not only new knowledge but also friendships and memories that will stay with me for a lifetime."
