We invite lecturers to participate in the Train-the-Trainer session “Blended Learning: Storytelling in Flipped Classroom,” organized by Leibniz University Hannover within the framework of the DAAD project “MERIT-Ukraine: Mechatronics, Energy, Robotics, and Innovation Technologies with Ukraine.”
📅 Date: May 21, 2026
🕒 Time: 10:00–11:30 (Kyiv time)
💻 Format: Online
👨🏫 Speaker: Dr. Jan-Willem Vahlbruch, Team Leader of the Radiation Protection Courses at the Institute of Radioecology and Radiation Protection, Leibniz University Hannover
In this practice-oriented session, Dr. Jan-Willem Vahlbruch will present the redesign of one of his Radiation Protection courses into a blended, flipped-classroom format enhanced by storytelling (“Claas World/Claas Welt”).
Participants will learn how ILIAS tools, such as Course, Learning Module, Test, and Forum, were orchestrated to support a cohort of learners through an online kick-off, a three-week self-study phase, and on-site practice days, culminating in a final assessment.
The session will also highlight media-didactic approaches to address common teaching challenges, including heterogeneous student groups, varying levels of prior knowledge, differing learning speeds, and the need for greater flexibility in the time and place of study. Particular attention will be paid to the use of authentic, practice-based narratives to increase student motivation and engagement.
In addition, the speaker will share practical insights and lessons learned, related to pacing, feedback channels, workload management, and the creation of reusable digital course templates.
