Educational and Professional Programme at the First (Bachelor’s) Level: Energy Management and Energy-Efficient Technologies
Speciality G3 Electrical Engineering
The Energy Management and Energy-Efficient Technologies programme has been offered at the first (Bachelor’s) level by the Department of Power Supply at the Educational and Research Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management since 2018. It is delivered within speciality G3 Electrical Engineering. The programme was developed to train specialists to address contemporary electrical engineering challenges in electricity supply systems. Igor Sikorsky KPI also conducts research in electrical, electric power and electromechanical systems, including electricity distribution.
The programme was developed by Department teaching staff drawing on experience in energy management, energy auditing, energy-efficient systems and technologies, and on comparable programmes in Ukrainian and international universities.
Programme aim and features
The programme prepares graduates to solve complex problems and undertake innovative professional work in energy management and efficiency across industrial, commercial and municipal settings. This includes developing energy management systems; selecting energy efficiency indicators; assessing, forecasting and verifying energy savings in projects, companies and communities; and participating in energy audits and the development and implementation of efficiency measures for processes, buildings and industrial transport. The University Development Strategy for 2021–2025 emphasised cooperation with the labour market, employers and other stakeholders in programme improvement.
The programme supports students’ professional, scientific, intellectual and social development by combining fundamental education with professional training in energy management and energy efficiency.
Specialists from other organisations and educational institutions contribute to teaching, and students undertake practical training at industry facilities and participate in student research groups. Students may choose electives aligned with the Department’s profile; some electives may be taught in English. The programme also provides for the certificate programme “Energy Audit and Energy Efficiency Certification” and identifies opportunities for international students through Igor Sikorsky KPI’s Centre for International Education.
