Biographical note
In 1976, Kalinchyk V. graduated from the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute with a degree in electrification and automation of underground mining operations. After graduation, he was assigned to the Department of Power Supply of the KPI, and in 1978 he entered graduate school, which he graduated in 1981 and was assigned to the KPI Department as a senior researcher.
In 1983, Kalinchyk won the Lenin Komsomol Prize in Science and Technology and in the same year he defended his PhD thesis. In 1985, he was promoted to senior researcher.
Since 1985, Vasil has held senior positions: head of a research laboratory, deputy director of the Energy Saving Research and Engineering Center since 1989, first deputy director of the Automation and Energy Research Institute since 1991, and director of the same institute since 1997.
He has worked at the Power Supply Department since 2007, initially as an Associate Professor. In 2012, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor. He is currently a Professor of the Power Supply Department.
In 2014, he was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology.
Kalinchyk V. has 9 serial implementations in the Ukrainian economy, he is the author of more than 350 scientific and methodological works, including 4 monographs, more than 50 copyright certificates and patents, 9 textbooks.
Research interests
Development of models, methods and tools for monitoring and controlling energy consumption modes. multilevel resource-saving management of energy supply system modes.
The main scientific achievements of Kalinchyk V. include:
development and implementation of methods and means of accounting, control and management of energy consumption modes
analysis, forecasting and control of energy use
development of general requirements and rules for the use of energy metering devices
development of methods and systems for integrated control (active and reactive power, voltage) of the modes of power supply systems of industrial facilities
development of state standards of Ukraine in the field of electric power
development of the Concept of building automated systems for commercial electricity metering in the energy market
development of technical requirements for commercial electricity metering systems
development of standard design solutions for the construction of automated commercial electricity metering systems for different categories of consumers.
Under the leadership and with the participation of Kalinchyk, more than 350 commercial electricity metering systems have been implemented.

1997-2007 - Director of the Research Institute “Energy” (2007 to 2022 - Director of the Research Institute “Energy” in combination); From 2007 – Associate Professor of the Department of Power Supply, NTUU “KPI”.
Educational work
Vasyl Kalinchyk teaches lectures, practical and laboratory classes. The main courses he teaches are: “Relay Protection and Automation of Power Systems”; ‘Electrical Part of Stations and Substations’; ‘Relay Protection and Automation Devices in Distribution Networks’; ‘Research work on the topic of master's thesis’.
Pedagogical activity corresponds to the main direction of the department.
Supervises students' diploma works.
