Biographical information
Basok B.I. in 1978 graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Kyiv State University (now Taras Shevchenko National University), and in 1982 – from the postgraduate studies of the specified university. From 1982 to the present he has been working at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics (IET) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, successively holding positions from senior engineer to deputy director for innovation activities (since 1993) and deputy director for scientific work (since 1996) and head o f the department of thermophysical basics of energy-saving technologies (since 2004). In 1993 he graduated from the International Institute of Management “ IIM-Kyiv” and the Academy of Management in Celle, Germany. Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sci ences (1985), Doctor of Technical Sciences (1998), Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2006). Master of Business Administration МВI (1993), Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology (1997 ), Laureate of the Tolubinsky Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2009).
Basok B.I. is a follower of the scientific school of discrete -pulse energy input into heterogeneous environments, and since 2005 he has initiated a scientific direction and, accordingly, a scientific school of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on the development of energy efficiency, mainly in the final consumption of energy (consumersregulators, active consumer s, "smart" consumers), in particular, in buildings and
their energy supply systems. He took an active part in the development of targeted state and regional programs for the modernization of municipal heat and power engineering; in the development of the N ew Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035 «Security, Energy Efficiency, Competitiveness » (in blocks on energy efficiency, on heat supply, partly on renewable energy sources, including the use of environmental energy and waste heat energy resources), in the development of the Law of Ukraine «On Energy Efficiency of Buildings », the draft Law of Ukraine «On Energy Efficiency».
The main areas of scientific research and development are the following: cogeneration technologies; heat pump technologies based on natural and waste technogenic energy resources; passive buildings, buildings of the «0-energy» type, intelligent buildings; thermal interaction of buildings with the environment, the impact of insolation on buildings; innovative thermal insulation systems; geothermal ventilation; low-temperature heat supply systems; research into the instability of the coolant flow and prevention of its destruc tive impact; ground accumulation (daily, seasonal) of heat, heat extraction processes; autonomous power supply based on insolation and wind energy; global warming and adaptation to climate change.
In particular, he developed the scientific and technical foundations of aero- and hydrothermodynamic instability of coolant flows, on this basis he proposed monitoring methods to neutralize the negative impact of instability manifestations under high therm al load on elements of energy equipment (boilers, heat generators, steam generators, D PEI equipment, liquid -jet engines, Cowper metallurgical furnaces). Since 2005, he has substantiated the necessity and feasibility of a new scientific direction – the use of effective heat and mass transfer to increase the energy efficiency of buildings with the development of the necessary diagnostic and monitoring support for the implementation of innovative technologies.
Basok B.I. was the head of international grants fr om the British Council, UNIDO (at the UN), USAID (USA), two personal grants from the PRC, a participant in a grant in Poland, and is the head of an international grant under the Innovate Ukraine program (Great Britain).
Scientific works consist of (as of 0 1.01.2025): 26 monographs (10 of them published by the publishing house «Naukova Dumka ») and separate chapters in 6 monographs, 470 scientific articles, more than 350 theses, 50 a.s. and patents. Articles are published in well -known scientific publications, such as «Science and Innovation», «Technical Electrodynamics », «Bulletin of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine», «Heat Energy», «Heat Transfer Research», «Industrial Heat Engineering», «Thermal Science», «Appl. Mech. and Engineering», «High Temperature», «Physics of Fluids», «Engineering Physics and Thermophysics», «Thermophysics and Aeromechanics», « Physics Journal», « Mechanical and Industrial Engineering», «Mathematical Models and Computer Simulations», «Rocznik Ochrona Środowiska», «Applied Mathematics and Physics», «Production Engineering Archives», «Materials», «Energies», «Sustainability».
Since September 1, 2013, he has been working part -time as a professor at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Total scientific and pedagogical experience as of September 1, 2024 is 11 years.
Under the leadership of Bas ok B.I., 15 candidate (and PhD) and 4 doctoral theses were defended.
Basok B.I. was a member of the scientific council of the State Fund for Fundamental Research of Ukraine; is the head of the section «Energy and Energy Efficiency» of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and is currently a member of the working group of experts of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on the assessment of scientific institu tions of an engineering and technical profile. He is the deputy chairman of the technical committee No. 302 on energy efficiency of buildings of the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine; is the chairman of the energy efficiency committee of the Cham ber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine; vicepresident of the National Association of Heat Pumps of Ukraine; vice-president of the technological energy park «Institute of Engineering Thermophysics».
