In the KPI them Igor Sikorsky at the Institute for Energy Saving and Energy from 23 to 26 April 2018 by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine held the second stage of Ukrainian Student Olympiad in 141 Electricity, electronics and electrical engineering (specialization "Energy management and energy efficiency") and specialty 144 Thermal ( Specialization "Energy Management and Engineering") 2017/2018 The thirteen leading universities of Ukraine took part in the Olympiad. The number of students and teachers who took part in the Olympiad was 60 people. During the three days of the Olympiad, the participants held the main competition round; visited the laboratories of the Department of Electrical Supply and the Department of Heating Engineering and Energy Conservation; the jury determined the winners of the Olympiad in their personal and collective qualifications; the organizing committee summed up the results and awarded the participants with certificates and diplomas, presented gifts from the sponsors.

Conducting the Olympiad at the present stage of energy development is of particular importance because it promotes ideas of energy saving, economical use of natural resources, the introduction of alternative and renewable sources of energy.

The ticket of the Olympiad consisted of two theoretical issues and three problems that are related to the problems of electrical engineering, heat engineering and energy management. The competition of students participating in the Olympiad was reviewed by a jury consisting of representatives of teachers from all thirteen higher educational institutions of Ukraine, which revealed a sufficiently high level of students' training, their ability to solve problems in the field of energy saving, electrical engineering and heat engineering, heat supply and electricity consumption.

The winners of the Olympiad are:

- on specialty 141 Electricity, electrical engineering and electromechanics: Tereshchenko Artem Mikhailovich, National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" (first place); Kampos Ilya Askaniyovych, Odessa National Polytechnic University (second place); Dobrovolsky Mikhail Sergeevich, KPI them. Igor Sikorsky (third place);
